The actress — who landed a best supporting actress nod for her role in 2009 movie Crazy Heart – says she and Jake pigged out on calorific treats when they heard the good news earlier this week.
“My brother’s phone was ringing at his house and he woke up and said, ‘Did you get nominated?’ ‘I said: ‘Yes! I did!’” said Maggie, adding that she considered going back to sleep, but the Brokeback Mountain star made her coffee and pancakes to celebrate instead.
Maggie — who welcomed daughter Ramona, her first child with husband Peter Sarsgaard on October 3, 2006 — recently revealed she couldn’t wait to get back to work after giving birth.
“I had been focused almost completely on my daughter for three years, focused on being a mother and I had this kind of surge of a feeling that I needed to do something for me, that I was also a woman and an actress and not just a mother,” she said last month.
“I had so much kind of built up and kind of welling in me that needed to be expressed from having become a mom. I just had to get back to work. Do something for me.”
